Flat advertising lighters are slim, pocket-sized lighters printed or engraved with brand logos, slogans, and artwork from American businesses of the 1940s through 1970s — produced as promotional giveaways for everything from oil companies and car dealerships to local diners. Scripto's Vu-Lighter, introduced in 1955 with its distinctive clear fuel window, became one of the most popular vehicles for advertising lighter production.
